In this week's show we'll look at many pieces of porcelain & pottery in an attempt to identify which are transfer decorated & which are hand painted. It's trickier than you might think. During the taping of the show I picked up a piece of Alfred Meakin Bleu de Roi thinking that it must be transferware, but then when I examined it with a loop, it looked like it was hand painted. We'll consider whether transferware is always less desirable than hand painted (HINT: it's not), and we'll date the pieces. If you have missed a show, check out ...

We've discussed Meissen, Dresden, Villeroy & Boch, Sevres, Chantilly, Royal Copenhagen... through the years, but in this show I'll feature an exquisite vase made by Fischer J of Budapest, Hungary, an unmarked German tankard, and a Gouda art pottery vase made by PZH, and we'll compare them with comps currently offered for sale online. -Gary Check out more videos in the iAntique Archive! http://www.iantique.com/videos

I knew the wash stand was vintage, not desirable to me but picked it anyway. I assumed the wash set would also be vintage or newer was surprised to find some nice old pottery. The Dresden wash set complete would have 6-8 pcs & dates 1882-1925 The spindle clothes/towel rack was also picked with the wash stand.
